SCOPE OF THE PROJECT.

This program is centered in Kampala district, based in Kawempe division from there we hope to expand to other districts. The project is targeting disadvantaged children like orphans, disabled, children infected and those affected by HIV/AIDS or whose parents have died of HIV/AIDS, street children, children in armed conflict, the Hungry and Homeless children.

THE PROBLEM.

* We noted that there is high prevalence of orphan hood among children due to HIV/AIDS and other causes which claim their parents.
* Greater numbers of street children due to domestic violence in homes which has left many children homeless, hungry and vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and other related dangers.

ACTIVITIES

* Family Health Support engages in bible studies with children through organized bible review clubs
* Having social gatherings with children ie study tours, children also engage in activities like swimming, football tournaments, racing and others for fun and education purposes.
* Engaging in vocational activities like Art and crafts all in the name of creating and developing their talents.
* Having camping with children for adventure purposes

Currently we are working with the Church, Leaders, and Family. The three groups God has chosen to meet the needs of Child development in the community. The church is defined as a local gathering of Christian believers in a community who recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ and seek to know and follow Him based on the whole Bible.

Family Health Support under the child sponsorship program will work with:

Parents: Includes guardian or caretaker as some children may not live with a parent.

Therefore FHS-CDP will equip the church, leaders and family to use their resources and take responsibility to meet the needs of their children in addition to the sponsorship provided by the project.

The goals of child development under Family Health Support Organisation include;

1. SPIRITUAL

We ensure that children increasingly understand God’s intentions or design for all areas of their life and apply them to their own lives.

2. INTELLECTUAL (and Vocational)

This involves Family Health Support staff ensuring that these children;

* Complete primary and ideally secondary school through sponsorship.
* Able to analyze and think creatively to make new solutions and work with others to solve problems.
* Acquire basic skills that will provide for self and future family.

3. PHYSICAL

Our aim is to ensure that;

* Children are healthy as their physical needs for growth and development are increasingly being met.
* Well nourished children are mentally quick and alert. Able to work study hard and attend school and community activities on a daily basis.

Therefore projects such as training mothers in meeting the health needs of their children, food preparation training, clean water projects and related training, etc

We also work hard to ensure the child is participating in a church or group where he/she is known and loved.

4. EMOTIONAL (AND SOCIAL)

Family Health Support works hard towards character development of children.

Our role here is to ensure that a child is kind, honest, hopeful, giving, serving, clean, organized, and diligent

Children increasingly have security, hope and purpose. They are developing good character and relationships.

* Character development: ensuring that the child is kind, hopeful, honest, giving/serving, clean, organized, and diligent.
* Relationship: child is participating in a church or group where he/she is known, loved and encouraged.

FHS-ORG’S CDP requirement is that all registered children be treated as full participants whether or not they have a sponsor.

* Three points. Doing what is best and most effective means that every activity CDP will do in a community must not undermine but help equip the family, church and leaders to meet the critical needs of the children in addition to the sponsorship provided by the project.

Family Health Support through sponsorship hopes to reach out to the needy and disadvantaged children.

Very soon we shall be sending photos of needy and disadvantaged children together with a project proposal highlighting the need for funding and how the funds will be utilized.
PROJEKTUMFANG
